Martha Stewart is getting into the lucrative pot business and is teaming up with a Canadian cannabis company in the development of a new line of products. She signed on as adviser to Canopy Growth, which is also one of the largest marijuana producers, to create CBD products that are pet-friendly.
In a statement, Stewart said that she is delighted to partner with Canopy Growth and share with them everything she has learned through the years “in the subject of living.” According to her, their first collaboration together will offer “sensible products” that are targeted at people’s pets.
The lifestyle magnate herself owns a number of pets, including French bulldogs, Chow Chows, Friesian horses, a Fell pony, and Persian cats. She even features them on her Instagram account.
Stewart says she does not smoke, but she also doesn’t have any problem with people smoking around her. According to her, she has not heard of anybody dying from cannabis, whereas there are people who smoke cigarette and die of cancer.
The new line of products will be using cannabidiol or CBD, which is a non-psychoactive chemical compound found in cannabis and will therefore not get users high. CBD has also recently exploded as a health and wellness product because of its therapeutic benefits.
And as the cannabis industry continues to grow, businesses like Canopy Growth are collaborating with celebrities on weed products. Canopy Growth, for one, has unveiled a line of products with rapper Snoop Dogg, who is known to be a good friend of Stewart’s.
More specifically, Canopy’s subsidiary, Tweed, and Snoop Dogg create a brand of marijuana called “Leafs by Snoop.”
