There are celebrities who have admitted to using cannabis at one point in their lives, and there are also those who openly admit to using it regularly. Here are some of these celebrities and their cannabis stories.
Brad Pitt. After news broke that Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, rumors started circulating that the main reason for it was because she had had enough of Pitt’s marijuana smoking. Pitt is an outspoken advocate of drug law reform and the legalization of cannabis. He has had the reputation of being a weed fan since the earlier days of his career. In 2009, Bill Maher had talked about Pitt “rolling the most perfect joints” that he had ever seen, to which Pitt replied “I’m an artist.”
Chris Brown. When he was in Amsterdam with friends, Chris Brown had an all-out pot smoking session in a coffee shop, where one can smoke legally. He even posted an Instagram photo of himself smoking three giant joints. He also posted a video where he talked about getting very high because marijuana is legal in Amsterdam.
Lady Gaga. In 2012, when Lady Gaga did her Born This Way tour, she suffered from a hip injury that worsened with the physical demands of performing and the rigorous schedule. To help her deal with the pain, she smoked as many as 15 joints in one day. She eventually sought the help of performance artist Marina Abramovic to kick the habit. Abramovic convinced her to go through an intense rehab experience. And while she’d not addicted to marijuana anymore, Lady Gaga admits that she still smokes a lot of pot when she is writing music.
George Clooney. While he was filming Ocean’s 12 in the Netherlands, George Clooney was often spotted in one of the premier cannabis cafes in Amsterdam. It is said that he returns to that same cafe every year to refresh his stash of pot.
Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Terminator star and former California governor is a well-known weed fan. He was also captured on video during his younger days smoking marijuana after a body building workout. He has made it clear in later years that he is in favor of legalizing weed.
Miley Cyrus. Miley Cyrus told Rolling Stone magazine in 2013 that marijuana “is the best drug on earth.” She was also seen lighting a joint on stage during the European Music Awards that same year.
Jennifer Aniston. Jennifer Aniston admitted to Rolling Stone that she enjoys weed once in a while and that she thinks there is nothing wrong with that. She emphasized that she wouldn’t call herself a pot-head, and takes “everything in moderation.”
Natalie Portman. The Oscar winner told Entertainment Weekly that when she was still in college in Harvard University, she smoked weed. She has given up the habit because, according to her, she’s already “too old.”
Whoopi Goldberg. Whoopi admitted to smoking weed on the set of The View as well as confessed that she was high the time she accepted her Oscar for her performance in Ghost. Now, she uses medical marijuana legally and has even written a column on the Cannabist about the use of medical marijuana. What’s more, Goldberg collaborated with edibles chef Maya Elisabeth and designed her own cannabis products.
Rihanna. Rihanna is not shy about her love of weed. She posts photos and videos of herself smoking pot on Instagram and even wore a marijuana-themed costume for Halloween.
Justin Timberlake. JT said in an interview with Playboy in 2011 that he “absolutely” smokes weed. He said that sometimes he has a brain that needs turning off and that some people are also just better when high.
Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman has had a tough history with alcohol and drugs. But while he has already given up hard drugs, he said in an interview with The Guardian that he will “never give up ganja.” In fact, he calls marijuana “God’s own weed.”
