Now this news really made us ROFL (roll on the floor laughing, for those who are not familiar with online messaging abbreviations).
A group of teenagers in Colorado decided to take bad to the next level and experience getting high without paying for it. So, they stole a van, smashed it into a cannabis dispensary’s storefront, and took what they thought was marijuana. What they got from the store instead was cases of oregano.
So much for getting a free high!
According to reports, the dispensary The Native Roots did not keep real medicated cannabis on display. What they use instead to simulate pot was the cooking herb oregano. The real weed, meanwhile, was kept safe and sound in some other place.
Kim Casey, the dispensary’s communication manager, told the local CBD station that all of their cannabis products are locked away. She said the four teenage burglars thought the pre-rolled joints of pot were all theirs for the taking. However, it was actually oregano leaves inside the rolling paper.
The teenagers did not get out of the dispensary entirely empty-handed, though. According to Casey, they still managed to leave with some shirts and some cash.
(Yes, they got cash, which they can use to buy real marijuana from somewhere else — including the black market. What a bummer, right?)
Witnesses and CCTV footage revealed that the young thieves smashed the van through the storefront just before 1 a.m. They left the van they stole inside the dispensary and used another car when they made their exit.
Witness Brent Wrathbone pointed out that the damage the youngsters have done to get high is just not worth it. It is estimated that the teenagers caused thousands of dollars in damage.
The teenagers reportedly also robbed a liquor store that same day.
The police are still looking for the teenagers.
Meanwhile, Native Roots said that it hopes to have the store fixed within the next few days.
