Paris, 24th November 2018. The Swiss cannabis products company JKB Research and the French skateboarding retailer DAYOFF have launched a partnership that will see them bring products from CBD420, the leading European CBD brand, to the shelves of the legendary skate shop in the Republique area of Paris. From today, CBD420 edibles, balms, oils and e-liquids will be available to the Parisian skateboarding community and the wider public. To mark the event, CBD420 and DAYOFF, with the support of Swiss skate brand Faust Skate Co., have organised a skateboard competition for prize money involving dozens of local skaters.
Jonas Duclos, Co-Founder and CEO of JKB Research, said: “We’re proud to bring CBD420 products to Paris and to the French skateboarding world. The skater community has always been close to the cannabis community and skate shops have a huge potential to pioneer the emerging cannabis products market. CBD is also great for athletic performance. We have received amazing feedback about the use of CBD from skaters all around the world.”
Duclos is an avid skater himself, but his connection to the skateboarding world runs even deeper. In his hometown of Geneva he founded OG Skate, which he still leads, and through which he organises frequent skateboard competitions and events. OG Skate has grown to become Switzerland’s largest skate association and was instrumental in the building of 3 local skate parks.
Reddah, owner of DAYOFF, said: “Skateboarding is our passion and lifestyle, and DAYOFF is more than just a skateboarding shop, it’s a space where different cultures come together for a particular way of living. As skateboarders, we want to perform, we stock all kinds of products and we were always looking for high quality, natural solutions for those typical skateboarding injuries. And CBD also fits in perfectly to our lifestyle. We share a similar philosophy to the guys from CBD420. We’re extremely happy to be able to offer CBD420 products, and that is why we are also throwing an event to mark this collaboration.”
CBD is being increasingly used by athletes because of its anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety and analgesic properties, often replacing ibuprofen, associated with long-term effects such as increased risk of heart failure, and opioids such as tramadol or codeine, which can become addictive and have several side effects. Notable users in the skateboarding scene include, Max Geronzi, Jacoppo Carozzi, Kilian Zehnder and Mike Arnold, but also athletes in other disciplines such as UFC fighter Nate Diaz.
“I started using CBD420’s products about a year ago. CBD balms are perfect for scrapes, cuts, hits, swelling, even for a twisted ankle or knee and the oils really help with the soreness. I really like that they’re all natural products, and they have worked better than other products available,” said Max Geronzi, who turned Pro for the legendary french brand, Cliché Skateboards, the most notorious and old french skateboarding brand. He now skates for Nike SB and Almost Skateboards.
CBD stands for cannabidiol and is one of the main substances found in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, which stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, CBD is not a psychoactive, meaning it does not make one high. In France, CBD is legal to purchase as long as any products contain less than 0.2% of THC.
