Cigarette smoking and nicotine is bad for one’s health as it harms not just the lungs but the other organs of the body. Many studies have been done to support this. In fact, according to research, smoking causes a whooping 87% of lung cancer deaths. Not only that, but cigarette smoking is also responsible for a wide range of other cancers and health conditions, including problems with the heart and the blood vessels — even stroke and cataracts.
And it’s not just the active smokers that experience the adverse health effects of smoking. People nearby who breathe in the smoke, or secondhand smokers, are also at risk of getting similar health problems.
Smoking among pregnant women is also detrimental to the health of their unborn babies. Aside from an array of pregnancy problems, it also puts infants at risk of SIDS or sudden infant death syndrome.
This is the reason why people need to get rid of the habit. And we know it’s always easier than done. Addiction to nicotine, just like all other forms of addiction, is difficult to kick.
But we know of an easier way to quit smoking.
CBD can help you quit smoking cigarette
Studies have shown that cannabidiol or CBD can help curb nicotine craving.
According to researchers at the University College London, CBD can significantly reduce the number of cigarettes that smokers who want to quit consume in a given day.
One of the reasons why CBD seems to effectively help smokers kick the habit is because it affects memories or cues that hold one’s desire to light up a cigarette. CBD, in other words, may gradually erase the positive memories associated with smoking.
The study was the first to investigate CBD’s effect on cigarette addiction among humans.
The study involved 24 smokers who were split into two groups. One group was given inhalers containing CBD and the other was given inhalers with placebo. Both groups had to use the inhalers when they felt the urge to smoke a cigarette during a one-week period.
It was found that the placebo group displayed no change in their smoking habits. The CBD group, on the other hand, showed a 40% reduction in the number of cigarettes smoked.
Because of this, CBD looks like a promising candidate.
The researchers, however, admit that it is hard to directly draw a comparison between CBD and other smoking cessation therapies based on the study alone. They suggest that larger studies be conducted in order to confirm their findings.
The best way to take CBD to quit smoking
If you want to get rid of your cigarette smoking habit and say goodbye to nicotine, you can try using CBD oil. CBD oil can be consumed in different ways, but you may want to vape it.
Smokers would enjoy vaping CBD oil more than the other methods of taking CBD because they get to substitute nicotine in the ritual of smoking. With vaping, there is that familiar feeling of smoking and smokers find it soothing. In fact, many attest that they experience relief 30 to 60 seconds after vaping.
You may want to start with a dose of 0.5ml twice daily, 12 hours apart. If you notice no significant change after two weeks, you can double the dose and observe the effects for three weeks.
If, within this period you can already feel the change or the relief, you can continue with this same dose for the entire three weeks before increasing the dosage. You can adust the dose according to what you feel is appropriate for your body.
Furthermore, vaping CBD oil is recommended to help curb your nicotine cravings because CBD oil is directly absorbed into your bloodstream for fast results.
