It seems that former boxing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson wants to add another title to his belt: cannabis champ. Formerly known as “Iron Mike,” Tyson is opening his very own cannabis ranch or cannabis resort in California.
The boxing legend purchased a 40-acre property in California City, which is a town southwest of Death Valley and has a population of only 15,000 people. Tyson intends to take advantage of California’s legalization of recreational cannabis and will allot 20 acres of the Tyson Ranch for “master growers” to have full control of the environment.
Tyson also plans to have his own school, called the “Tyson Cultivation School,” which will teach farmers how to grow and how to develop their own cannabis strains.
The site, which is around 110 miles north of Los Angeles, will also come complete with its own luxury camping area and cabins, and will have its own amphitheater.
Moreover, the ranch looks to advance research that would help develop the clinical benefits of cannabis. Tyson is said to be a long-time supporter of cannabis for medical and clinical purposes.
Tyson and his business partners Jake Strommen and Robert Hickman broke ground on the property on December 20, just a little more than a week before California officially legalized recreational pot and dozens of cannabis retail shops opened within the state.
