Skipta, a social network comprised of specialized online medical communities for healthcare professionals in the U.S., has partnered with media company The Fresh Toast to provide patients with trusted and reliable information on medical cannabis.
The collaboration specifically aims to allow patients who are seeking to use medical cannabis as treatment option to obtain advice from qualified healthcare professionals. It will provide research information and guidelines for the potential uses of cannabis in alleviating the symptoms that are associated with their identified diseases and illnesses.
The Fresh Toast, an American pro-cannabis entertainment and daily lifestyle site founded in 2016, will serve as exclusive media partner for information and news on medical cannabis. Meanwhile, Skipta and its members will author the medical cannabis news and content.
The Fresh Toast is considered to be the first pro-cannabis site that gained mainstream appeal. Also, unlike other cannabis sites today, The Fresh Toast boasts a high female readership. The media outlet is currently expanding its syndication newspaper and magazine relationships in North America, including Men’s Health, Salon, and NY Daily News. It is also investing in expanding its health coverage and is sharing patient stories in order to provide readers a full picture of both the advantages and disadvantages of using medical cannabis.
Skipta’s social network is comprised of verified healthcare communities including Oncology Nation, Doctor Unite, Psychiatrist Connect, Medical Directors Forum, Neurologist Connect, Pediatrician Nation, Vet Unite, and Informa Pharma Intelligence, among others. It boasts 800,000 professional medical practitioners in the U.S. as members, of which around 600,000 are doctors.
According to The Fresh Toast founder and publisher, JJ McKay, their partnership with Skipta will give the American people security and confidence in knowing that a doctor who doesn’t have anything to gain personally will be able to share his or her medical opinion and expertise with regard to medical cannabis. He explained that the partnership does not view cannabis as a definite cure for chronic diseases, but as another legitimate treatment option that patients should consider.
McKay added that with 40 per cent of The Fresh Toast’s readership coming from red states, the partnership can offer a vehicle to reach out to the general public. With proper use, he said that medical cannabis can help tens of millions of people. And with national leaders like Senator Orrin Hatch and Sanjay Gupta endorsing medical cannabis, The Fresh Toast and Skipta will be able to help improve people’s lives.
Dr. Theodore Search, Pharm.D., Skipta founder and CEO, said that their team-up with The Fresh Toast offers their network a unique vehicle to disseminate reliable and trusted information regarding a potential treatment option that is very likely to become revolutionary when it comes to improving patient outcomes across various medical areas. He said that there is so much information out there for the public to know about, especially with clinicaltrials.gov citing over 700 studies on medical cannabis across different phases of the clinical process, and they are proud to have the opportunity to lighten the burden of the public by bringing them the latest news and the latest information from a trusted source.
