Seth Rogen is the latest celebrity to get into the cannabis industry with his own weed company. Rogen is partnering with film producer and screenwriter Evan Golberg for this weed business venture called Houseplant.
The duo, who both come from Vancouver, have collaborated in films including Sausage Party, Pineapple Express, and Superbad. Now, they have diversified their business interests and have launched Houseplant, a company that will supply cannabis within Canada.
According to Rogen, Houseplant is a passion that they have brought to life through dedication. He said that every decision they have made business-wise reflects the years of education about, respect for, and first-hand experience with cannabis.
The first product under the brand is called Houseplant Sativa and is available in British Columbia and in the surrounding areas through regulated retailers, as well as online. The company plans to launch Houseplant Hybrid and Houseplant Indica afterward. These will eventually be followed by cannabis gels and pre-rolled joints.
Houseplant’s cannabis products will come from Canadian medical cannabis company Canopy Growth. Canopy also has a minority stake in Houseplant.
In a statement, Canopy Growth said that Houseplant represents years of expertise on the product and unmatched attention to detail in each strain. Every strain has been carefully selected and cultivated. Commitment to high-quality cannabis starts with the selection of the best genetics and it is there when the customer opens the jar, Canopy added.
Just recently, lifestyle guru Martha Stewart also launched her own CBD brand in partnership with Canopy Growth.
